Languages that have a gendered grammatical structure (e.g. German, French, Spanish, Italian, etc.) pose a challenge sending messages with formal greetings that precede the client's formal name and other gendered parts of speech like nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, pronouns, etc. You can easily customize a Salutation in Gazelle to better reflect gendered grammatical structures when using a merge code to identify the client. Here is how to handle this in Gazelle.

FROM THE WEB APP
Step 1: Go to Settings > Company Profile > Custom Fields to rename one of your 'Custom Client Field' labels to be 'Salutation'. In this example we will rename the label for the first custom field which uses the corresponding merge code {{client.custom1}}.
Step 2: On the client record input the custom greeting or salutation into this "Salutation' custom field so the formal greeting you desire to use when addressing this customer can be reflected in the merged data. This approach allows you to use any of the appropriate gendered grammatical structures you need for greeting this client.
Step 3: Be sure to use the correct merge code {{client.custom1,2,3,4,5...10}} when you edit your message templates or send custom messages to your customers.

FROM THE MOBILE APP
The client custom fields in Settings > Company Profile and the corresponding message templates for automated reminders and one-off messages that utilize the custom field merge codes can only be edited from the web app. However, once configured custom message templates can be edited and set using the mobile app and the corresponding merge code for these custom client fields.
