In order to prevent duplicates inside QuickBooks, the first time Gazelle syncs with QuickBooks we create client records and transactions (that we tag behind the scenes and manage) inside your QuickBooks account. You can add transactions, notes, tags, and other information to the customer records we manage; but Gazelle is authoritative over some customer fields and all the transactions we manage on your behalf.
Functionally this means three things:
1. Editing a QuickBooks transaction that originated in Gazelle needs to be done in Gazelle and then re-synced with QuickBooks in order to be updated in QuickBooks.
2. Gazelle does not map the customers we manage to customer records you manually create in QuickBooks. We will put a note on each customer record we create so you know it is being managed by Gazelle, but we cannot combine or merge customer records or transactions inside QuickBooks.
PRO TIP: To help differentiate between customers Gazelle manages and customers you have previously created inside QuickBooks, we recommend you inactivate all of your QuickBooks customers prior to integrating with Gazelle (and then selectively reactivate any customers in QuickBooks that de not exist after your first Gazelle sync).
3. Going forward you will be able to add transactions, notes, tags, and other information to the customer records we manage. But transactions in Gazelle can only be mapped to customers in QuickBooks for whom Gazelle is authoritative.
